Meet the Team
Meet the people who look after St Kilda’s pets every day, a team that values clear communication, and long-term relationships.
Dr Justin McKay
B.Sc. (Hons), B.V.Sc. (Hons)
Justin is the Practice Director and a long-standing member of the St Kilda Veterinary team.
Having joined in 2011 after graduating with Honours from the University of Sydney in 2004, he has a strong interest in ophthalmology, emergency medicine and surgery, and is our go-to vet for orthopedic and brachycephalic procedures.
Outside the clinic, Justin enjoys watching sport and spending time with his wife and two young daughters.
Their family has recently grown to include Molly, a cheeky Labrador puppy you’ll often see saying hello around the clinic.
Dr Zoe Sorensen
BVM&S
Zoe has been part of the St Kilda Veterinary team since 2011, after graduating from the University of Edinburgh in 2005.
Zoe pairs her love of animals with a genuine care for the people who trust her with their pets, treating every visit as an opportunity to support both the animal’s health and the owner’s peace of mind.
Away from the clinic, Zoe is kept busy by her two young daughters and walking Lily, her 12‑year‑old black Labrador who can often be found seeking treats at the clinic.
Zoe also enjoys staying active by paddle boarding, cooking and reading with Holly, her six‑year‑old rescue cat curled up on her lap.
Dr Andrew Corbett
M.V.B
Andrew is the newest full‑time vet to join the St Kilda Veterinary Clinic team. He studied at University College Dublin in Ireland and has a particular interest in pathology and chemotherapy.
He enjoys veterinary work because it allows him to make a real difference to pets and the people who love them.
While he doesn’t currently have pets of his own while travelling away from home, he makes up for it with plenty of cuddles from patients in the clinic. Seeing pets improve and watching clients leave with a smile is his favourite part of the job.
Dr David Rizkalla
B.V.Sc.
David is one of our long-standing veterinarians and is well known at the clinic for his easy smile and upbeat energy.
He studied at the University of Sydney and has a strong interest in anaesthesia and surgery, including dental procedures.
Outside of work, David enjoys building his skills, working with dogs, staying active and spending time busking.
He’s pictured here with two much‑loved patients, Digger and Yakka, who can speak, beg, shake, sing happy birthday and shine in the agility ring.
Amy
Amy is an important member of the St Kilda Veterinary Clinic team and has felt like part of the family since she arrived.
She completed a Diploma of Animal Technology at NMIT in 2012 and is now working toward her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
Over the past decade, she has held roles in the animal welfare sector as a veterinary nurse, shelter supervisor and foster care network coordinator, with particular experience in neonate kittens, puppy school and fostering more animals than she can count.
At home, Amy lives with her fiancé, young son, two characterful cats, Scout and Morticia, and remembers with great fondness Evie, her larger‑than‑life English Mastiff now in puppy‑dog heaven.
Outside of work she enjoys hand‑knitting chunky blankets and cat beds, going on bush walks with her family and looking after her many plant “babies.”
India
India is a valued member of the St Kilda Veterinary Clinic team and brings many years of nursing experience. Her passion for animals started early, and she has a genuine soft spot for all species large and small.
She has particular experience with Greyhounds, having worked closely with specialists in the breed, and adopted Belle (pictured) in 2021 – a clinic regular who is often found relaxing in one of her many outfits.
India finds the most rewarding part of her work is caring for a wide range of animals while helping owners feel informed and supported.
At home, she also looks after a Norwegian Forest Cat named Achilles, a lively collection of tropical fish and a colony of stick insects.
Evie
Evie is one of our amazing nurses who is currently studying Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing.
Growing up in a family that loves animals, and having family members who are vets, Evie always knew she wanted to work in the animal industry.
Evie has a gorgeous 4 year old Border Collie, Lola and a cheeky kitty cat, Maverick!
The best part of being a Vet Nurse for Evie, is building relationships with the animals and making them feel as comfortable as possible during their stay.
Please note: Evie isn’t cuddling a Border Collie in this photo, but we happily accept cuddles from our clients whenever the opportunity arises.
Susan
Sue has been the Practice Operations Manager at St Kilda Veterinary Clinic for over 20 years. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the clinic, supporting the vets and nurses and helping ensure everything runs as it should.
With a strong understanding of how the clinic operates, Sue plays a key role in keeping schedules organised, processes on track, and the team working together. She is a consistent point of support for both staff and clients.
Sue also helps maintain a welcoming and well-run environment for everyone who visits the clinic.
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, walking along the beach with her Toy Poodle, Teddie, and knitting.
Jess
Jess is our Practice Manager and Head Nurse at St Kilda Veterinary Clinic. She first joined the clinic as a trainee nurse in 2013, became Head Nurse in 2018, and later returned after a year away to broaden her skills, calling St Kilda Vet her professional home ever since.
She completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing at The Gordon Institute of TAFE in Geelong in 2014 and plans to undertake a Diploma of Veterinary Nursing in the future.
Jess is known for her strong focus on both client service and patient care, making sure every pet is safe, comfortable and well looked after throughout their visit.
At home, Jess lives with her fiancé and Skye, her good‑natured German Shorthaired Pointer who often drops by the clinic for extra cuddles and is pictured here.
In her spare time, she enjoys catching up with friends and family, taking Skye to the beach and bush, and unwinding at home.
